Ghis Thomas was born in 1947 in Oran (Algeria).

She currently lives and works in Avignon (France). Since her first exhibitions in the 70’s, Ghis Thomas turned towards a non- figurative expression, in search of new material to affirm his sense of composition. She found sources of inspiration in Africa where he lived for several years, and from where he brought his pigments.

Thomas’s painting, strong, energetic, sensual, translates the harsh symbolism of these regions, and touches the universality of the human soul. In his blacks and his ochers (chapopote), as in his look towards the world, there is a certain austerity, with transparencies as many possible entries in these grounds of emotions where the red-blood of the wound loosens from time to time.

Actualmente vive y trabaja en Avignon (Francia). Desde sus primeras exposiciones en los años 70, Ghis Thomas se orientó hacia una expresión no figurativa, en búsqueda de materia nueva para afirmar su sentido de la composición. Encontró fuentes de inspiración en África donde vivió varios años, y de donde trajo sus pigmentos.

La pintura de Thomas, fuerte, enérgica, sensual, traduce el áspero simbolismo de estas regiones, y toca la universalidad del alma humana. En sus negros y sus ocres (chapopote), como en su mirada hacia el mundo hay una cierta austeridad, con transparencias como tantas posibles entradas en esos terrenos de emociones donde el rojo-sangre de la herida afloja de vez en cuando.
